My name is Francy Rains. I have been a teacher/librarian for 35 years. I love working at West Elementary and I am very proud of our beautiful library. I can hardly wait to share some exciting books with you this year. I have been married to my husband Ronnie for 30 years. We have two children, Beau and Carly. We also have two precious grandchildren that keep us “on our toes”. In my spare time, I love to sew, work in my yard and spend time with my family. |

The library is open to all students during school hours. Our library houses over 10,000 books available for circulation. We subscribe to Renaissance Place Enterprize, which gives us access to over 113,500 Accelerated Reader Quizzes. All new quizzes are available to us immediately.
Kindergarten students are allowed to check out one book at a time, but the books are kept in their room. Kindergarten teachers keep the books in a reading center, and the teachers read many of the books to the students.
First and Second grade students are allowed to check out one book at a time. First grade will begin bringing their books home during the second six weeks. During the second semester, first graders will begin to learn how to use a shelf marker when choosing a book from the library. First and second grade students are not charged fines for overdue books. Students must pay for lost or severely damaged books. The fine amount will be determined by the librarian. Parents will be notified when a student has lost or damaged a book. If the lost book is found and is in good shape, a full refund will be given.
Third, fourth and fifth grade students are allowed to check out two books at a time. Students may visit the library at any time to check out additional books. Books are checked out for one week and may be rechecked. If a student needs to recheck a book, he must bring it to the library. Fines are charged for overdue books. Five cents per day will be charged for an overdue book, excluding weekends, holidays, and excused absences. Students will pay damage fines, and the fine amount will be determined by the librarian. Parents will be notified when a student has lost or damaged a book. If the lost book is found and is in good shape, a full refund will be given.
Reference books must be used in the library by students.
