WTPT September Meeting Minutes
· Meeting began at
· Committee sign-up sheets and Master Roster circulated for additions/corrections
· Jana presented the budget for this year.
· Richard Rush gave an overview of Watch Dogs program. Sign up forms went home and are available this evening. Moms are needed to watch kids while the dads are getting info that evening. Sign- ups available.
· Jana gave the overview on the current budget since July.
· Background checks are needed each year for parents who would like to volunteer this year.
· Book Fair- Overview by Cassie. Seeking ideas for the family night. Fudruckers may be willing to help. Still need a chair for the family night. Melisa would like to set up subcommittees for various book fair tasks. First meeting is Sept. 10th-
· Pirate Gear- 585 shirts sold at Back-to-School night. $2400 made that night. Currently have orders for 150 more shirts. Order forms going home again Tues.
· Pirate Store- Still need more volunteers for September. 12-3pm. Students will get an order form on the morning of their visit so they will be ready when they arrive at the store. Volunteers will escort only students who are shopping back and forth to the store. Pirate store is the store for spending pirate bucks earned through the Positive Behavior System.
· Box Tops- Carly described how the collection of Box Tops will take place. The class that submits the most gets a food prize each six weeks. Last year we earned $555.
· Teacher Appreciation- Elisha Rowe is the chair. Committee is currently collecting forms from teachers about what kind of gifts they like. When completed, the forms will be sent home to parents. Parent work/day/nights coming in Oct. Notes will go home inviting parents to help. Luncheons for staff will be held in November and April.
· WTPT shirts- we would like volunteers to wear a spirit shirt when volunteering at events. Not mandatory, $10 if you would like to order one.
· Fence signs- fund the pirate store. More to sell.
· Cooper West Wish List- After meeting with Mrs. Nettles, ideas are marquee sign for the front of the school with a sponsorship from a local business and sound system for the gym. Last year we paid for half the cost of the projector system for the cafeteria. Members agree that either of these would be acceptable. Suggestion to add more playground equipment.
· Upon request, Cassie gave an overview of the Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction.
· Upon request, Cassie gave an overview of the Community Outreach committee. Melisa gave further info.
· Kona ice, popcorn/pickle are all Principal’s Fundraisers.
· Debbie Hale- chair of Green committee will start activities soon.
· Recognition to Carly Myers for a successful Back to School Night event!

· Meeting began at 6:38pm
· Welcome and introductions
· Master roster is being prepared. Members are asked to supply, update or correct contact information. Information will be sent through e-mails.
· Copies of May minutes made available to members who would like to see them.
· Bylaws- Copies were distributed. Cassie explained the amendments made on Officer Term Limits and Committee Meetings. Bylaws were voted unanimously.
· Financial Report from July 1-Current- Jana gave an overview of the purpose of the Finance committee. Reimbursement forms have been designed for all purchases related to school business.
· Fence Signs- Seeking signs for sponsorships. $400 each.
· Book Fair- Cassie gave overview. We may have a dinner during the week of the fair to encourage attendance at the fair and make the event a better return on investment of time. Suggestion- Family reading night, food, movie, etc. Melisa Fernandez is the chairperson of the Book Fair. We would like a chairperson for Family Night.
· Pirate Gear- 3 T-shirts available at Back to School Night along with water bottles, tattoos, dogtag necklaces and car decals. Order forms will also be available that evening if more items are needed. Kara Henslee is chair of the committee, more volunteers are needed. Question raised about whey credit/debit cards aren’t accepted. Jana reports that it is not cost effective. Suggestion made to let parents know in advance only cash/checks accepted.
· Back to School Night- Volunteers needed. 2 shifts available.
· Pirate Store- Cassie gave an overview of the student management system and store. Volunteers are needed. Time schedule will be forthcoming. 5th graders may become more involved in manning the store in the future.
· Fundraisers- Kimberly asked for opinion of members on whether we should focus only on large return fundraisers or include smaller ones such as Val-o-grams, etc. Group agreed that we should do fundraisers that include students such as candy-grams at Christmas, etc. Current proposal from Xstream Car Wash- They will purchase a sign with $400 worth of car wash cards. Members agree that we should trade the sign for $500 worth of cards and then develop a way to sell or give the cards as appreciation. Members are favorable to the pictures with Santa fundraiser.
· Box Tops- We will be increasing from 2 collections a year to one every six weeks. Suggestion- Purelife water bottle labels also give something back.
· Chairpersons are still needed for a few committees- Teacher Appreciation, Spaghetti Dinner/Auction and Olympic Play Day. Teacher Appreciation will be luncheons for Thanksgiving and spring for Teacher Appreciation Week.
· Opportunities offered for members to sign up to help with various committees.
· School Directories will be done again this year. Volunteers needed to help.
· WTPT banner- “Finding the Treasure in Every Child” is our slogan. 3x10 banner is being made to hang at meetings and school events.
· Pampering room for Kindergarten parents on the first day of school- members agree Cheers and Tears is a good idea.
· Suggestion for Teacher Appreciation- wrapping presents for them at Christmas time.
